Descriptions:
CS 102: This semester, I am the half-time TA for a freshman-level class called "Data Structures", taught by Michael Crowley. I have 3 office hours a week, plus I teach one of the lab classes.
CS 410: I am also the half-time TA for "Translation of Programming Languages", aka Compiler Theory, taught by Claire Bono. I have 3 office hours per week, plus I help with some of the grading and answering student questions by email and in the newsgroup. I also have to attend the lectures for the class.
CS 597: Seminar in Computer Science Research. Required for all first-year PhD students. Professor Laurent Itti runs the course, but every week we have a new lecturer explain his area of research.
CS 562: "Empirical Methods for Natural Language Processing", taught by Kevin Knight then Daniel Marcu. We're learning about linguistics, finite state transducers, probability, and language modeling.
CS 599 - Multidimensional Databases: Taught by Cyrus Shahabi. In this class, we read a bunch of recent papers on multidimensional databases, and work on a project.
BUSN 453: "Internet Marketing Technologies" For five weeks of the semester, I'm doing a seminar at Biola for business majors about how to create web pages. I'll be doing this October 8, 15, 29, and November 5, 12.
First Year Seminar: This is a class for new Math & Computer Science freshmen at Biola. It only lasts the first half of the semester, until October 16.
I am taking 7 units total this semester. USC pays for my tuition since I'm a TA for the department.
"OHE 122", "THH 214", "VHE 206", "SAL 127", and "SCI 159" refer to the classroom locations. Campus maps available at the Visit USC web site.
